Dr. Jeanne d'Arc Mujawamariya

Minister of Environment, Government of Rwanda

Dr Jeanne d’Arc Mujawamariya is the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Rwanda. Prior to her appointment in November 2019, she served as Ambassador of Rwanda to Russia from 2013 and Rector of Kigali Institute of Science and Technology from 2011 to 2013. She served as Rwanda’s Minister of Gender and Family Promotion from 2008 to 2011, Minister of Education 2006 to 2008 and Minister of State in Charge of Higher Education from 2005 to 2006. She was the Minister of State in Charge of Primary and Secondary Education in the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Scientific Research from 2003 to 2005.

Jeanne holds a PhD in physical chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology. She is passionate about environmental conservation and efficient natural resources management to achieve sustainable development and green growth for Rwanda’s socio-economic transformation.
