My fight to remove plastic from period products – and why it matters
A Q&A with campaigner and activist Ella Daish, in which she explains how – and why – she is fighting to end the use of plastic in menstrual products.
Ella Daish is an environmental activist who has been campaigning since early 2018 to eliminate all plastic from menstrual products. Her petition has over 240,000 signatures and is going from strength to strength with supermarkets and manufacturers starting make significant changes. Her campaign has resulted in decision makers developing their own eco-ranges and has led to three retailers stopping the production of their plastic tampon applicators – a move that is collectively saving over 17 tonnes of plastic annually.
