Esther An

Chair of the Corporate Advisory Board, World Green Building Council

As Chief Sustainability Officer of City Developments Limited (CDL), Esther wields her knowledge, skills and enthusiasm to act as an ardent advocate of the environmental, social and governance principles (ESG) underlying sustainable development. A sustainability practitioner for over two decades, Esther published the first sustainability report in Singapore in 2008 and issued the first green bond by a Singapore company in 2017. Conferred the 2018 SDG Pioneer for Green Infrastructure and A Low Carbon Economy by the UN Global Compact and named a G20 EMPOWER Advocate in 2022, Esther is included in TIME100 Climate most influential leaders 2023. She sits on the boards or advisory platforms of international organizations including Global Reporting Initiative, GRESB Foundation Board, World Green Building Council Corporate Advisory Board, and UN PRI Real Estate Advisory Committee. She chairs the Asia Pacific Real Estate Association’s ESG Committee, the Singapore Sustainability Reporting Advisory Committee and co-chairs the Urban Land Institute Singapore’s Sustainability Product Council and is the vice-chair of the Singapore Institute of Directors’ ESG Committee. A climate and SDG advocate, she founded Women4Green and Youth4Climate networks to empower women and youths to champion climate action and sustainable development.
