OBE. Professor of Cancer Biology, Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London; leads the Centre for Cancer and Inflammation and Co-Research Lead in the Institute of Bioengineering. Also involved in public engagement with science as Director, Centre of the Cell, a biomedical science education centre and outreach project in East London. There have been more than 100,000 participants in Centre of the Cell activities since September 2009. Has authored science books for children. Received the 2004 EMBO Award for Communication in the Life Sciences and the 2005 Royal Society Michael Faraday Prize. Chair, Understanding Animal Research. Member of the Grant Committee, Medical Research Council and European Research Council.
