Hilde Merete was appointed CEO of Norsk Hydro in 2019. She joined Hydro in 2005 and has held several leading positions in the company. Hilde Merete led the integration process when Hydro’s oil and gas activities merged with Statoil in 2007 and thereafter led Hydro’s Aluminium Metal business area as EVP for more than ten years.
As CEO, Hilde Merete works tirelessly to lead Hydro ensuring growth and continuous improvements, based on the guiding principles of ‘Lifting profitability, Driving sustainability’.
Before joining Hydro, Hilde Merete worked at Elkem for 20 years, ultimately as Executive Vice President of Silicon and Metal. She began her career as an Auditor at Arthur Andersen. Hilde Merete holds a master's degree in business economics from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration in Bergen and is also a certified public accountant.
Hilde is married to Tom Erling Mikkelsen and has two adult children.
