João Tovar Jalles is an Economist in the Development Macroeconomics Division of the Research Department of the IMF. Previously, he spent 4 years in the Fiscal Affairs Department. João has more than 60 publications and he has worked mainly on fiscal-related topics, but also on other issues including structural reforms, forecasting, energy, labor, empirical growth, and crime. Before joining the Fund, João worked at the OECD and at the ECB. Academically, he was an Invited Lecturer at Sciences Po (France) and Assistant Professor at the University of Aberdeen (UK).
