John Colas

Partner; Vice-Chairman, Financial Services, Americas, Oliver Wyman Group (MMC)

John T. Colas has worked in each of the world’s principal financial centers advising senior management in financial services and the public sector on critical matters of strategy, regulation, and risk and capital management. John is a co-leader of Oliver Wyman’s Climate & Sustainability platform while also serving on Marsh & McLennan’s Climate Risk & Sustainability Task Force.
John led our project team assisting the United Nations Environment Programme – Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) and a working group of 16 leading banks to develop a framework to assess and disclose climate-related risk factors. John served as a member of the Climate-Related Market Risk Subcommittee (Climate Subcommittee) of the CFTC’s Market Risk Advisory Committee (MRAC). John worked closely with this expert subcommittee in helping to author the report, "Managing Climate Risk in the U.S. Financial System". His recent work includes assisting the World Economic Forum’s initiative on Financing the Transition to a Net Zero Future (FTT). He has worked with the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) and the TCFD Secretariats. He also serves on the GARP Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR) Advisory Committee.
A 2022 NACD Directorship 100 Honoree, John is a member of The Economic Club of New York, The Foreign Policy Association, the AFS-USA President’s Council and an Advisory Board member of the Huntsman Program at the University of Pennsylvania.
John graduated magna cum laude from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He also studied at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (SciencesPo) as a Rotary Foundation Scholar.
