If cities are the motors of the economy, then the weak recovery may mean that cities are under-performing.
Josef W. Konvitz is the author of Cities and Crisis, published by Manchester University Press in 2016. He joined the OECD’s Urban Affairs Division as Principal Administrator in 1992, and succeeded Ariel Alexander as Head of Division in 1996. From 2003 to 2011, Konvitz was head of the OECD’s programme on regulatory policies. Educated at Cornell and Princeton Universities, he was a member of the history faculty at Michigan State University from 1973 to 1992. He lives in France.
