Mr. Karl Galing is a Water and Sanitation Specialist of the Water and Sanitation Program (WSP) of the World Bank. He currently serves as the Country Coordinator for WSP Philippines. Karl manages several WB technical assistance on urban and rural water and sanitation projects with the Government, including the current support on the Scaling Up Rural Sanitation Program and the rollout of the National Sewerage and Septage Management Program. Karl actively contributes to the East Asia and Pacific regional program in the design, planning, implementation and monitoring of various development and poverty alleviation projects in the water and sanitation sector. He is also involved in the development and exchange of knowledge and learning products of the World Bank’s Global Water Practice Team and Community of Practice.
Prior to working with the World Bank, Karl used to be the Water, Sanitation and Solid Waste Management Specialist for the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GIZ) and Principal Hydrogeologist for Tonkin and Taylor, Limited. He holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Management, Master’s in Geology and a Bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of the Philippines.
