Kazutaka Takechi is a professor in the Faculty of Economics at Hosei University. His areas of research are in international trade and industrial organization. He has published in academic journals such as the Journal of International Economics and the International Journal of Industrial Organization. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of British Columbia.
His current research work is focused on the identification of trade costs. Using unique price data, he is investigating how self-selection issues, the nature of pricing to market, and the types of trade costs affect estimation of the impact of distance on trade costs. He is a research member of the Research Institute of Economy, Trade, and Industry (RIETI) and a study group member of Trade and Industrial Policies in a Complex World Economy.
