Kriss is the Chief of Social Impact and Splunk for Good. In this role, Kriss works to leverage all Splunk’s assets to accelerate finding solutions to the world’s social and environmental challenges.
Prior to joining Splunk, Kriss was the CEO of Tides, a global foundation and social venture accelerator that supports corporate, private and family foundations, and individual donors. As CEO, Kriss led transformation toward a new vision, mission, and strategy that grew the organization from $200 million to $650 million in revenue.
As the founding Executive Director for the Center for Social Innovation (CSI) at Stanford. She established CSI as a global leader in the emerging social innovation field. Kriss worked as an Advisor to the Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies while living in Myanmar in 2013. In her previous role as Chief Operating Officer for Juma Ventures, Kriss helped raise the profile of the social entrepreneurship field from a niche market to mainstream.
Kriss is recognized as a pioneer in the field of social innovation and has presented internationally on social innovation, social entrepreneurship, design thinking, and public-private partnerships. In addition, Kriss has guest-lectured at Stanford Graduate School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, Hitotsubashi University, Kyoto University, and Kyushu University. Kriss developed and taught the course, “Social Innovation through Corporate Social Responsibility,” at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Furthermore, Kriss has written and published leading thought pieces on social impact. She has co-authored several articles, including “Rediscovering Social Innovation,” published in the Stanford Social Innovation Review.
Kriss has served on numerous boards and advisory groups. Kriss received her BA from the University of Washington, and her MBA from UC Berkeley. Kriss resides in the Bay Area with her husband, her two children, and her dog, Lucy.
