Kyla Carlsen is Director of Programming for Co.Act Detroit, a hub for accelerating collaborative action in Southeast Michigan’s nonprofit community.
She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Management from the University of Delaware.
Kyla began her career in Chicago with JPMorgan Chase Private Wealth Management working in credit and finance before moving to Detroit where she completed a one-year fellowship program, Challenge Detroit, consulting for local non-profits on social impact issues. She has experience working in economic development, community development, and entrepreneurship and has focused much of her work around access to capital for minority and women owned small businesses in low to moderate income communities.
Kyla is a Detroit PAL youth soccer coach, a Detroit Young Professionals board member and serves on a board committee for Alternatives for Girls, a Southwest Detroit non-profit focused on combating human trafficking. She also teaches a youth financial literacy workshop at the Coalition on Temporary Shelter (COTS), a local family-only homeless shelter.
