Worked for International Monetary Fund. 40 years with Bank of Botswana, 17 years (1999-2016) of which as Governor and Chairman of the Board. Member of International Monetary and Financial Committee representing 21 sub-Saharan Africa countries (2000-02). Since end-2016: Coordinator of Selebi-Phikwe Economic Revitalisation Programme. Chaired WEF Global Agenda Council on Poverty and Development Finance (2009-11), Co-chaired 2011 WEF on Africa. Member of Global Future Council on Economic Growth & Social Inclusion (2016-18). Former Board Membership: 1999-2016 Debswana Mining Company; Diamond Trading Company Botswana; Minerals Policy Committee; 2005-07 Botswana Economic Advisory Council; 2004-05 Commission for Africa; 2007-16 Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority. Current Membership: Vice Chair, University of Botswana Foundation; Africa Progress Panel; Emerging Markets Forum; Bretton Woods Committee; UN Joint Staff Pension Fund Investment Committee; Central Banking Publications Advisory Board; Recipient of Presidential Order of Honour - 2004 (Botswana's highest public service award).
