Dr Manfred Fischedick is the Scientific Managing Director at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment, Energy, and a professor, in the Faculty of Economics at Schumpeter School of Business and Economics at Wuppertal University.
He studied chemical technology with the main focus on energy and environmental technologies at the University of Dortmund. He earned his doctorate in the field of energy technology at the University of Stuttgart (integration of renewable energies into the existing power plant system). Following 25 years of experience in energy system analysis, he advises international institutions, the European Union, the German Federal Government and the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia as well as companies from a variety of industries.
Manfred Fischedick is a member of several scientific advisory boards, among others lead author and coordinating lead author of the fifth and sixth Assessment Reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and lectures on transformation and innovation research at various universities.
