Earth Day: Why we need diverse decision-makers to progress climate negotiations
Current climate change negotiations work against the interests of underrepresented groups and don't include a diverse range of voices. That needs to change.
I am a Swiss youth advocate, activist and change maker for just sustainable development and ambitious climate action through my diverse engagement in several initiatives around all dimensions of sustainability on a local, national and international level. It’s my aspiration to inspire and empower youth to take meaningful, impactful and positive actions to create a momentum for change to preserve nature and especially glaciers and the frozen world. I was initiating and I am leading several associations and initiatives in the fields of climate action, sustainable development, youth and women empowerment and education such as then Sustainability Week International. Recently I was awarded by the UN Secretary General as Youth Climate Champion of Switzerland and appointed as Champion for the UN Food Systems Summit. Next to my studies in political sciences at the University of Zurich I got a mandate from the President of Switzerland on Action for Climate Empowerment and hence served in the Swiss delegation to the UN climate conferences and was elected to serve the youth constituency of the UNFCCC.
