Matthew Wilson

Permanent Representative and Ambassador, Permanent Mission of Barbados

Matthew Wilson is a Barbadian with over 25 years of experience in Trade and Development. He is currently the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Barbados to the WTO, UN and other International Organizations in Geneva, Ambassador to Switzerland and PR to UN agencies in Vienna and Rome. He is the Chair of the WTO Working Group on MSMEs. Prior to this he was Chief of Special Projects and Chief of Staff (2013-2020) at the International Trade Centre, and Senior Adviser to WTO Director General (2011-2013), Deputy Aid for Trade Coordinator at WTO, and a trade, labour and human rights negotiator for Barbados.

He has served as first Friend of the Chair of the WTO Trade Facilitation Negotiations, joint coordinator of the WHO SIDS and NCDs process and is currently on the Board of the International Gender Champions, the TESS, and the Shridath Ramphal Centre at the University of the West Indies.
He has degrees in Psychology/Sociology; International Relations; Development Studies; and MBA-Essentials.
