What happens when a powerful, old elite is confronted with a new generation of aspiring African leaders?
Mokena Makeka is Creative Director and Managing Director, Makeka Design Lab, South Africa. He has advised the South Africa's Minister of Human Settlements, sat on the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council for Design, and is the winner of the Gold Loerie Award for Communication Design in 2011. He is adjunct professor at GSAPP, Columbia University in New York, and the WITS 2014 Resident Equity Scholar in the School of architecture and planning. He also serves on the South African Creative Industries Federation. He is the recipient of the 2010 Johnnie Walker Celebrating Strides Award for design. Mokena became the inaugural winner of the Gold Loerie Award for Communication Design in Architecture 2011. He is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader.
