This is why we need to change our approach to young people's mental health
Most mental health systems are structured on child and adult systems, with the cut-off point being 18 years – right in the middle of the onset of illness.
I'm an occupational therapist by trade, and passionate about the mental health of young people. I am a lived-experience youth mental health advocate and currently work with young people in remote Australia. I am currently studying my PhD on the evaluation of an early intervention program to improve the parent-child relationship in families in low income contexts. I am a proud member of the Brisbane Hub.
I currently sit on the Orygen-World Economic Forum Youth Mental Health Steering Committee, Australian Red Cross Youth Advisory Council and am the founder of the University of Queensland Postgraduate Mental Health Advisory Council.
I love hiking and fika with friends.
