Are emerging economies deindustrializing too quickly?
This paper suggests that the patterns of structural transformation in developing countries are different to those of advanced, post-industrial economies.
Nicolas Lippolis is a Research and Policy Officer at the Centre for the Study of African Economies, based at the Blavatnik School of Government. He works with Stefan Dercon and Stephen Peel on the project on “Paths to Industrialisation in the 21st Century”, which aims to reshape the policy agenda on industrialisation, synthesizing existing knowledge on the topic and spelling out its policy implications for low-income countries, especially in Africa.
