Master’s in Business Administration and Economics, Witten/Herdecke University. Former: management consultant in enterprise restructuring; partner in a strategic market research firm covering Eastern Europe. 1996, joined the International Finance Corporation (IFC); has worked in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and Eastern Europe on both the investment and advisory sides; 2009-14, responsible for IFC’s Access to Finance Advisory Business Line. Since July 2014, Director, Finance and Markets Global Practice, World Bank Group, responsible for the global solutions of the Practice’s financial, advisory and convening services, including financial sector reform and policy, financial infrastructure and access, and finance for development. Has also been leading the World Bank Group’s engagement with the G-20 on financial inclusion. Chair, Global Agenda Council on the Future of Finance, World Economic Forum. Teaches financial sector reform and development, Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies.
