Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Noordelijke Hogeschool Leeuwarden. 1988, joined Fluor Corporation, one of the world’s largest publicly traded engineering, procurement, construction, maintenance and project management companies, as Controls System Engineer, based in the Netherlands; assigned to several international projects, followed by general management roles. 1999, moved to Fluor’s headquarters in California to run a major global change programme; then moved back to Europe to take the role of General Manager, Fluor in the Netherlands, and subsequently leading the Chemicals Group, Fluor Europe, Africa, and the Middle East; grew the global chemicals business; then President, Energy and Chemicals group globally and Member, Corporate Leadership Team. 2014, appointed Chief Operating Officer, with Profit & Loss responsibility for commercial operations worldwide, responsible for approximately $20 billion of annual revenues. Extensive knowledge and experience as a leader in the global engineering industry. Appointed Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Executive Board of Arcadis in April 2017. Arcadis is the €3.2 billion design & consultancy from the Netherlands active in infrastructure, water, environment and buildings with 27,000 people globally.
