Raj interfaces with Vaccine Delivery on cross cutting issues and with EDD and Pneumo and Polio PSTs. He is a public health physician with more than twenty years of experience in immunization and vaccines delivery in India and the South Asia Region. He joined the Foundation from PATH where he was Technical Director overseeing vaccines and drug development and delivery portfolio in India, Nepal and Bangladesh. He was also the Director of the Multi Country JE Project of PATH. Raj Shankar has worked closely with the Government of India and State Governments in facilitating introduction of SA14 14 2 JE vaccine in India and Nepal. His past work includes his role as Regional Coordinator for National Polio Surveillance Project in India, Director Immunization at PATH supporting Hepatitis B vaccine roll out in India, Regional Director for OneWorld Health in South Asia and as a Medical officer at a Primary Health Center in West Bengal State Health Services.
Raj has a bachelors in Medicine from Calcutta National Medical College and Post-Graduate in Public Health from Indian Institute of Public Health, Calcutta University.
