Could New York City become the beacon of energy efficiency?
Cities account for two-thirds of global energy consumption and New York City's energy efficiency measures could be a valuable example for others to follow.
Rick Sporrer is currently President of Danfoss North America, the largest market for an international manufacturer of high-efficiency HVAC/R, power conversion, motor control, marine and off- and on-highway equipment, with annual sales of $7.5 billion.
Mr. Sporrer has over 30 years of industry experience. Since joining Danfoss in 1990, he has held various management level positions prior to being named president in June 2022. Sporrer is a commercially focused, fiscally strong leader who is responsible for the functional areas that support the Drives, Climate Solutions, and Power Solutions segments in North America. Mr. Sporrer previously held positions in Design Engineering, Applications Engineering, Account Management, Warranty Administration, Quality, Continuous Improvement, and Sales Management within Danfoss.
Mr. Sporrer served as the global leader for the Sales and Marketing integration for the Danfoss Power Solutions acquisition of Eaton hydraulics.
Mr. Sporrer received a bachelor’s degree of science in agricultural engineering from Iowa State University. He has completed 6-Sigma Black Belt development, serves on the NEMA Board of Governors, and is a leadership liaison with Iowa State University.
Mr. Sporrer resides in Ames, Iowa along with his wife, Chris. He has three daughters, two grandchildren and enjoys hobby farming, golf, travel, and Iowa State University sporting events. He is an active volunteer in his church and numerous community organizations.
