This insect could eliminate food waste in cities. Here’s how
Cities need a robust circular economy infrastructure to support the use of insects to convert organic and food waste.
Sasha Babitsky is the CEO of Entoprotech, a circular economy company that harnesses the power of Black Soldier Flies to convert food waste into high-quality protein, insect fat (oil), fertiliser and additional high-value products. The process is a highly economical and environmentally efficient way to deal with waste treatment and protein shortages. He holds an MBA from the Saïd Business School (University of Oxford), and is a graduate of the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
