Shahana Althaf

Sustainability Scientist, Yale School of the Environment

Dr. Shahana Althaf is an experienced researcher in circular economy and industrial ecology. She is currently working as a Sustainability Scientist at Aligned Incentives, a next generation sustainability/financial data analytics company that helps corporates reduce their societal impacts by implementing financially driven sustainability solutions.
Prior to joining the company, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Yale University for two years, where she conducted material supply chain analysis for steel, aluminum, textiles and paper sectors. She has over four years of PhD research experience on the sustainability implications of consumer electronics adoption in the U.S., which resulted in award winning journal articles (JIE Graedel Prize 2020 for Best Paper, RCR Journal Best Paper Award 2019) and peer reviewed industry reports, which has received many media mentions (e.g. E-Scrap News). Her research is featured with interview quotes in YSE News & Yale Environment 360 (‘Amount of Electronic Waste Generated in the U.S. Is Shrinking’) and Recycling Today (‘Study shows residential electronic scrap generation is declining’).
