Vinay Mendonca

Chief Growth Officer, Global Trade and Receivables Finance, HSBC Group Management Services Ltd

Vinay is responsible for setting and executing HSBC’s growth strategy for its trade, receivable and supply chain finance business. HSBC is the world’s largest trade bank facilitating more than USD800 billion of trade annually through 5,000 trade specialists in 56 markets.
Vinay and his team work with the largest global corporates and FIs and their buyer/supplier ecosystems to structure solutions and programmes that facilitate commerce across the globe.
Under Vinay’s leadership, HSBC is driving the digitisation of trade to facilitate more resilient and agile supply chains. HSBC is forging public and private partnerships to accelerate digitisation, embed Trade as a Service on new venues and platforms and to develop sustainable trade finance solutions.
HSBC is leading the deployment of trade finance as an investable asset class and Vinay oversees trade distribution and participations.
He is passionate about overcoming challenges leading to a trade finance gap of USD1.5 trillion that hits emerging markets and SMEs the hardest by leveraging new technologies, including blockchain, data based credit decisioning, AI and IoT.
Vinay is on the Board of R3 – a blockchain enterprise firm and members of his team are on Boards of Contour, Tradeshift and Trade Information Network. He represents HSBC and participates in global panels and councils including the World Economic Forum, Bloomberg New Economy Forum, World Trade Organisation, ICC, BAFT, SIBOS, etc. HSBC and Vinay are listed on the Forbes Blockchain 50 2021.
He has worked in the UK, HK, India and The Netherlands and with Reliance Industries Limited, BNP Paribas and Infosys Technologies Limited.
Vinay holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering and a Master’s degree in Management Studies in Finance from the University of Mumbai.
