Cybersecurity in 2025 is defined by increasing complexity and heightened threats. Digital technology has enabled supply chains to expand globally, but it also makes them vulnerable. A single cyberattack or IT outage can disrupt entire ecosystems, as seen in the global outage of 2024 caused by a faulty security update. Alarmingly, 54% of large organizations identify supply chain challenges as the biggest obstacle to achieving cyber resilience.
Geopolitical instability is reshaping cybersecurity strategies. Nearly 60% of organizations report that rising tensions influence their decisions, from vendor partnerships to operational policies. Smaller and under-resourced entities are particularly vulnerable, becoming easy targets for sophisticated cybercriminals. As supply chains grow in complexity, defending them becomes an increasingly daunting task.
The disparity in cyber resilience is widening. Small organizations report a sevenfold increase in inadequate cyber defenses since 2022, with 35% feeling unprepared. In contrast, only 7% of large organizations consider themselves underprepared, a decrease from 13% in 2022. This gap underscores the growing divide between well-resourced entities and those struggling to defend against evolving threats.
