Lessons in leadership and adventure from Kat Bruce

This video is part of: Centre for the New Economy and Society

The transformative power of adventure has often been talked about by many great personalities. Like most of us, Kat Bruce, founder of NatureMetrics and a competitive rower, did not necessarily endorse or believe in this notion until a personal experience transformed her leadership skills and her views.

Faced with unexpected challenges during her 3,000 km rowing expedition around Great Britain in 2022, she also managed to brave the challenge of navigating a career transition around the same time.

Here's how this adventure shaped Kat Bruce’s career path

"When I came back, I actually found that I was able to walk back into the business and re-engage with it in a completely different way, with a lot more confidence, not shying away from difficult conversations, from a little bit of environments where there's a little bit of conflict, but actually able to walk into those and come out productively and not nearly as emotionally as I used to."

Watch the video to know more about her life-altering experience in her own words.
