The deal was agreed at a second session of COP16, the UN biodiversity conference. More than half of global GDP is dependent on the natural world, yet wildlife populations have shrunk by 73% over the past 50 years. The money will help to close the global biodiversity funding gap, which stands at around $700 billion per year.
