This Indian woman turned a personal tragedy into a fight for girls' education

When Dr. Urvashi Sahni was 27, she received a shocking call from her mother. It was tragic news and there was nothing she could do. Many years later, she says that anger laid the foundation to her feminist education journey.

Dr. Sahni started teaching 6 children in her garage. But in 37 years, Study Hall Education Foundation has trained over 500,000 teachers and educated 5 million kids in India. Their focus? Bringing knowledge to kids in rural areas that focuses on the real problems of life and how to solve them.

We sat down with Schwab Social Entrepreneur Dr. Urvashi Sahni to find out how that one phone call mobilised her to dedicate her life to the art of teaching and what happened next.
