Wildfires are forcing greece to carry out its largest-ever evacuation

More than 80 wildfires are raging across the country as high temperatures and high winds combine to dreadful effect. 19,000 people have been forced to flee homes and hotels on Rhodes, an island popular with holidaymakers. Some had to walk miles in searing heat to reach safety. Wildfires have also led to evacuations in Corfu. The mayor of North Corfu says arsonists are to blame. Forecasters say Greece could see its hottest July weekend in 50 years and that extreme heat is set to persist, rapidly increasing the risk of more wildfires .
