AMNC China 2024 - Understanding Nature's Ledger - English
While global GDP has soared in recent decades, human activity has led to a 40% reduction in natural capital from 1992 to 2014. Valuing economic models that prioritize critical assets of clean air, water, nutritious food and human well-being is imperative. How can this disconnect be transformed from the current ecological crisis to a sustainable future? This session is linked to the work of the newly-commissioned Steering Group on Natural Capital, under the Nature-Positive Pillar of the World Economic Forum's Centre for Nature and Climate. This workstream will transition to the Global Future Council on Natural Capital in 2025.
